It's our birthday!

Celebrating Salvesen Graham's 10th Birthday.

It’s hard to believe, June officially marks 10 years of Salvesen Graham. Given our decade long dedication to design, whether it be curating stylish spaces or creating artful accessories, we are thrilled to mark this momentous occasion with you.

When we began Salvesen Graham in 2013, we wanted to create a brand that celebrated a quintessentially British aesthetic by combining timeless design with a bold, playful approach to texture and colour. As well as being inspired by design codes from the past, we’re always looking forward. A huge part of what we do is about creating design that is both substantial and sustainable, design that feels stylish and comfortable now and in years to come. We call this our Future Heritage approach and it’s something we’re incredibly proud of.

To mark this exciting milestone, we thought we’d share some of our favourites from the last ten years. From our own collection, we adore the Oversized Mirror in Ruby or Midnight while the Side Chair is an iconic and versatile piece that we find ourselves using again and again.

When it comes to past projects, we loved the beautiful wallpaper and beading detailing from this dressing room project, as well as the serene pantry at Trewithen House, Truro.

And finally, this ottoman in the living room of an historic house that we worked on. Upholstered in needlepoint by Fine Cell, we loved the playful angular lines and vivid colours which contrasted beautifully with the more classic features of the rest of the space.

We’re so lucky that all our projects are memorable, but the recent redesign of a top floor Mayfair apartment was a real highlight. The space itself was a wonderful juxtaposition, with jewel-box sized rooms looking out on panoramas of the London skyline. To complement this, we used our signature combination of texture, colour and pattern to give the elegant space a homely yet thoroughly modern makeover. Although the whole apartment was a triumph, the reveal of small spare room which was covered in our Zig Zag Stripe Fabric In Moss was a special moment.

And finally…
A few words from us on our birthday…

If you could sum up SG’s approach in 3 words, what would it be?
Authentic, comfortable, considered
What was your aim when starting the company?
To create a practice that was creative but also (importantly) business minded and honest, which would appeal to a new generation of well-informed clients. To be rooted in tradition, in terms of aesthetics and skills, but to also be innovative and forward thinking, enabling us to create “future heritage” interiors.
What have been your personal highlights?
Standing on the street and watching while a sign-writer painted our names above our first office. Also, being featured in World of Interiors Magazine.

What’s been the best lesson you’ve learnt along the way?
Every problem is solvable.
What’s one product you’ve yet to create that you would love to?
A wastepaper bin! Sounds boring but every house needs them, and they should be practical and beautiful!
What do the next ten years hold?
Lots more of the same. There are a few interiors projects that we’re keen to tick off our bucket list; boutique hotel, holiday home somewhere hot… but generally continuing to work on beautiful houses with lovely clients. On the product side, there will be lots of exciting new launches to come and we can’t wait to see our products being used in beautiful projects across the globe.
