New Year Nesting

New Year Nesting

If the festive season has left you feeling spent, now is the time to retreat and reset so that you can tackle a new year feeling completely refreshed. Although January always brings with it connotations of abstinence and intense self-scrutiny, we prefer to take a more relaxed approach, surrounding ourselves with faces and spaces that can nourish and nurture and ease us into the new year. So, whether it’s making time to treat yourself to a home refresh or soothe with good food and drink, we hope this January brings you plenty of joyful moments.

Hunker down

If fitness isn’t on your agenda, then perhaps another form of self-care is. Although it’s something we like to practise all year round, when it’s still cold, dark and damp outside, finding time to take extra care of yourself and prioritise your wellbeing is even more important. For us, that always means eating well and filling our homes with delicious but nutritious food to eat and no one does that better than Deliciously Ella. Her podcast is something we’ve really been enjoying. Journaling is something that we have both found invaluable when it comes to getting intrusive or anxious thoughts out of our heads and on to paper, so a good notebook is essential. Of course if all else fails and you can’t find comfort anywhere else, we can very much vouch that a slow and easy pyjama day with our Yolke hot water bottle and eye mask most definitely does the trick.

Spruce Up Your Space

After the chaos of Christmas nothing beats slowly but surely returning your home to its usual calm (and tinsel-free) state. Although come January you might relish the absence of all that Christmas clutter, if things begin to feel a little too bare, try giving the space a little refresh with a few well-placed buys.

Giving the coffee table a makeover with some new books will not only help things to feel different but will hopefully inspire you too, while switching up the lighting is a simple yet effective way of making a change; luckily there’s something for everyone in our collection of lamps.

If soft furnishings are more your style, we know of no better way of sprucing up a space than with a couple of our cushions. If you’re already anticipating the arrival of spring, opt for the Floral Trail and Floral Sprig designs to cheer things up. If a more serious shift is needed, adding interest to your walls with our

Drink Up

If this January is set to be a dry one for you then you might need other ways to mark the end of a long day or a tough week. If that’s the case, swap out your usual tipple for something that’s just as delicious and better still, beautiful to look at. We’ve been won over by Pentire’s collection of plant-powered alcohol-free drinks and regularly enjoy them alongside or instead of a gin and tonic. Special mention should also go to Botivo, a herbal tincture inspired by traditional aperitifs that is delicious and happily, full of good-for-you antioxidants. Of course, whether you’re drinking alcohol or not you’ll need something nice to drink out of and these Henry Holland tumblers deserve to be pride of place on your cocktail tray.

Find Your Fit

For many January is synonymous with a clear head and a reinvigorated attitude towards personal goals. If exercise and keeping fit and healthy is one of yours in 2024, why not make it a more appealing endeavour with a new workout wardrobe. For sportswear with a chic edge, you can’t beat Sweaty Betty, while Helly Hansen is always reliable for great quality ski and sailing gear. If your idea of exercise is simply to get outside and ramp up your step count, do it in something from the perennially cool Patagonia.
